US Senators express solidarity with Ukraine and will continue to provide assistance
Following the passage of a bill to temporarily fund the government, U.S. senators expressed support for Ukraine and promised to work on further assistance. This was reported by ABCNews early in the morning on Sunday, October 1.
According to the media, in a "rare bipartisan statement by Senate leaders" after the passage of the temporary funding bill, senators expressed their support for Ukraine.
The senators noted that while they welcomed the bipartisan consensus, the decision "leaves a number of urgent priorities unresolved," the report said.
While both parties welcomed the decision, they noted that many important priorities remain unresolved. "In the coming weeks, we expect the Senate to work to ensure that the U.S. government continues to provide critical and sustained security and economic support to Ukraine," the senators said in a statement.
This comes after the U.S. House of Representatives approved a bill on September 30 to temporarily fund the government, which removed $6 billion in support for Ukraine to avoid a government shutdown. President Joe Biden urged to maintain support for Ukraine despite the current budgetary challenges.
"The shutdown could affect the pace of aid to Ukraine and the training of Ukrainian pilots on F-16 fighter jets, as the Pentagon warned on September 29.
