Ukrainians rushed to help and donate after yesterday's deadly rocket attack
Ukrainians have rapidly raised nearly $8 million in one day to support Okhmatdyt, Ukraine's largest children's hospital. This came after a Russian missile strike destroyed one building and damaged four others, injuring 20 people, including children, and killing one doctor.
In less than three hours, donations totaling $3.6 million were sent to rebuild the Russian missile-damaged Okhmatdyt. Various businesses across Ukraine, including gas station chains, private laboratories, hospitals, foundations, delivery services, and taxi companies, also began to contribute.
During a government meeting, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal announces that the government has allocated $3.7 million from the state budget reserve fund for urgent restoration work at Okhmatdyt.
On July 8, 2024, a Russian missile strike on the Okhmatdyt children's hospital in Kyiv caused significant damage. Ukraine's largest children's hospital suffered damage to several departments, including surgery, intensive care, oncology, and hematology. The attack killed one doctor and injured 20 people, including children.
