Russia does not intend to launch nuclear strikes on Ukraine, but there is a risk of an incident at nuclear power plants - Polish President Duda
Polish President Andrzej Duda said in an interview with The Washington Post that the likelihood of Russia using nuclear weapons against Ukraine is low. He noted that the decision on such a step should be taken collectively, not by one person, through the system of control over the Russian nuclear arsenal.
However, Duda expressed concern about the safety of nuclear power plants in Ukraine, emphasizing that the risk of incidents at nuclear power plants is much higher. There is a fear that such an incident could be disguised as a "nuclear accident."
In June, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized that Russia was preparing a scenario for a terrorist attack at the Zaporizhzhia NPP. Additional information from the Main Intelligence Directorate confirms that the Russians have already completed preparatory actions at the plant.
According to a report from Energoatom in July, violations of working regulations by the occupiers were recorded at ZNPP, in particular, Unit 4 was put into "hot shutdown" mode.
