Britain at the UN emphasizes that prolonging the war in Ukraine for another 500 days is unacceptable
&&Speaking at the UN Security Council meeting in New York on Monday, James Cleverly, the British Foreign Secretary, emphasized that prolonging the war in Ukraine is unacceptable. "We cannot allow this conflict to go on for another 500 days," said the head of British diplomacy.
Cleverly recalled the numerous calls by the UN General Assembly for peace based on the principles of the UN Charter and emphasized the common belief that law cannot be replaced by force. "President Zelenskyy's ten-point plan for Ukraine shows the way forward. Ukraine wants peace, as do we, as does the whole world," he said.
The minister emphasized that the international community is committed to a just and sustainable peace and demanded that Russia choose this path now by withdrawing its troops from Ukraine.
"Mr. Putin, withdraw your troops, end the war now," Mr. Cleverly said.
He also emphasized the importance of continuing the Black Sea Grain Deal to provide food to vulnerable countries and stop the rise in global food prices.
