New York City Mayor Eric Adams has declared August 23, 2023, the city's Ukrainian Heritage Day.
This was announced by New York City Commissioner for International Affairs Edward Mermelstein at the ceremony of raising the national flag of Ukraine, which took place in Manhattan's Green Bowling Park.
"New York is home to a dynamic Ukrainian diaspora. Through business, religious organizations and cultural events, the Ukrainian community has had a significant positive impact on the development of the City," Mermelstein emphasized.
