At the National Children's Specialized Hospital "Ohmatdyt", doctors saved the life of a child who swallowed 20 magnets that were part of a construction set. they were connected to each other in different parts of the child's gastrointestinal tract.

The doctors managed to capture the first magnet and pull it out along with the chain of 18 construction elements. however, one magnet remained and could not be removed endoscopically.

"A laparotomy was performed and a thorough examination of the abdominal organs was carried out," - the doctors said. "During the operation, 5 perforations and the last element of the construction set were found in the child. All the holes were closed and the magnet was removed."

Thanks to the quick and professional intervention of doctors, the child is in a satisfactory condition.

Doctors remind parents:

- Do not leave small objects, such as magnets, in places accessible to children,

- Keep a close eye on children when they play with toys containing magnets or other small parts,

- If you suspect that your child has swallowed a magnet, seek medical attention immediately.
