Nova Poshta Airlines has received permission to fly to Kyiv and Lviv: what it really means
The State Aviation Administration of Ukraine granted Supernova Airlines the right to operate regular international flights on the Lviv-Prague and Kyiv-Prague routes. According to Order No. 789 dated 21.10.2024, the airline will be able to operate up to seven flights per week to each destination starting from November 1, 2024 for an unlimited period.
This became known from the order of the State Aviation Service of Ukraine No. 789 of 21.10.2024 and from the message of Nova Poshta.
"We now have permission from the European Union Aviation Safety Agency to operate commercial flights in the European skies. This is an important step, as we will now be able to operate charter flights within the EU, which means we can deliver your parcels even faster!
We are currently making final preparations for the launch of flights," the company said. In the long term, SUPERNOVA AIRLINES plans to develop long-haul flights from the US to Europe and from China to Europe.
As Nova Poshta explained to TSN.ua, obtaining a commercial flight permit is a necessary preparatory work for the rapid resumption of air traffic after the opening of Ukraine's airspace.
"To be able to fly immediately after the opening of Ukraine's airspace, we need to obtain a commercial permit. Obtaining this permit means that we will be able to fly the specified routes as soon as it becomes procedurally possible, i.e. when the airspace is opened," the company explained.
Supernova Airlines is a newly established subsidiary of the NOVA Group of companies, which aims to provide fast delivery of mail, e-commerce and cargo on mainline routes to and from Ukraine.
The airline received its Ukrainian Operator's Certificate on January 6, 2023, enabling it to start cargo flights.
In May 2023, the company operated its first flight on the Riga - Rzeszow - Riga route using an ATR 72 aircraft, and on September 18, 2024, the first flight was operated using its own Boeing 737-800SF flying the Ukrainian flag.
