Ukrainian tennis player Elina Svitolina defeats the best Russian tennis player at a tournament in the United States
Ukrainian tennis player Elina Svitolina defeated her Russian opponent Daria Kasatkina at the WTA 500 tournament in Washington, winning the first and second sets 6-2. The match lasted 1 hour and 37 minutes.
During the match, Svitolina made one overhead serve, four double faults and converted four of nine break points. Kasatkina had only one ace, four double faults and zero break points out of ten.
This victory was the eighth in Svitolina's personal meetings with Kasatkina. In the next round, the Ukrainian will play the winner of the Jessica Pegula - Peyton Stearns pair.
It will be recalled that in the first round of the tournament, Svitolina defeated Belarusian Victoria Azarenka. It's also worth noting that another Ukrainian tennis player, Marta Kostiuk, won an impressive victory over her Canadian opponent at the start of the tournament in Washington.
