Svitolina defeats Russian after tense battle at US Open
Ukrainian tennis leader Elina Svitolina, ranked 26th in the WTA world rankings, has reached the third round of the US Open.
In the second-round match, she measured her strength against Russian tennis player Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, ranked 98th in the WTA.
Although Pavlyuchenkova won the first set, Svitolina did not lose faith in her success and took the next set. In a dramatic third set, both players had a chance to win, but Svitolina had the final say.
