Beyoncé honors dancer stabbed to death at Brooklyn gas station while dancing to her music
Beyoncé honored the memory of O’Shae Sibley, a 28-year-old professional dancer who was fatally stabbed at a Brooklyn gas station while dancing to her music, which police say is being investigated as a hate crime against homosexuals.
"RIP O'SHAE SIBLEY," reads the message posted on Beyoncé's official website.
On Saturday, Sibley was dancing to a Beyoncé song at a gas station. A group of men approached Sibley as he danced with friends and began shouting gay slurs at the group, Sibley's friend Otis Pena said on Facebook Live. The slurs eventually led to an altercation, a NYPD spokesman told CNN.
According to Pena, who witnessed the incident, the argument escalated and the man stabbed him. According to police, Sibley was stabbed in the torso and taken to Maimonides Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Sibley was a professional dancer who appeared in several music videos and performed at New York's renowned Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts.
